Why we made it
RootsPrint began with a family tree my grandfather left behind. My father shared the chart with me and continues to guide and encourage me as I preserve our family history. Through it, I learned about the ancestor who came to our village and began a family that has grown from one person to more than 500. That simple chart gave me a connection to generations I had never known, but I wanted to preserve the story in a form beautiful enough to print, display, and pass on to the next generation. I built RootsPrint to make that possible for my family and for anyone else who wants to turn their family history into something lasting.
It was equally important that those stories remain private. Everything runs locally in your browser, without an account or a family database on our servers. You can start with one person, grow the tree across generations, and export a crisp, print-ready PDF, a high-resolution image, or a multi-page family Book whenever you are ready.
